I'm one of the last ones to finally get around to making one of these. I had this vintage Barbie silhouette in my head and finally finished it the other night.
These are simple to do. The hardest thing is to find all of the materials.
What you'll need:
T-shirt
Fabric Paint--I used Jacquard fabric paint-- found at Michael's for about $4 a bottle.
Sponge brush
Freezer paper (you can find it in the baking section of your grocery store or buy some from your local butcher)
Scissor
Iron/Ironing board
I downloaded the vintage graphic. Then cut a piece of freezer paper 8 1/2 x 11 to fit in my printer. I sized the graphic to fit then printed it off on the freezer paper--on the paper side--not the wax side.
Cut out the graphic. Place on the t-shirt or fabric with the wax side down. Iron. Cut a piece of freezer paper to fit on the inside underneath the stencil. Iron with the wax side down. You'll want to make sure that the paint doesn't go through and by ironing freezer paper on the inside will prevent this from occurring.
Sponge paint the color you've chosen inside the stencil.
Let it sit for 24 hours. Peel off freezer paper on both sides. Heat set by ironing over each side for 30 seconds.
Cool huh?
