From Vintage Placemat to Needle Case
While cruising my local Value Village, I discovered a set of 4 vintage linen placemats for .99 cents. I thought they would make wonderful needle cases. I used raw silk for the lining and pockets and dark brown leather (from Walmart) for the tie. I think it turned out rather cute! The other three I gave away to friends and family as gifts.
I'm sure there are a lot of instructions on how to make this easy needle case. You simply cut one piece of material to fit the placemat allowing for seams. Then cut another half that size for the pockets. Hem the top of that piece then sew it to the other allowing spaces for your needles. Pin both together with your tie in the middle then sew the edges leaving a small opening to turn. Topstitch to complete. Simple.
