Vintage Pillowcase Skirt
Here's my version of a vintage pillowcase reconstructed into a skirt.  Very easy to do and instructions can be found at www.craftster.org.  Leave the hemmed edge of the pillowcase for the bottom of the skirt.  Cut off the other end of the pillowcase allowing enough room for casing.  Fold over the edge 1/2 inch, iron.  Then fold over again, 1 inch, iron and pin.  Stitch.  Find the center front of the skirt and cut a hole for the drawstring.  I then stitched around the edges of the hole--you could also use a buttonhole stitch.

Some people use the extra cutoff portion of the pillowcase to make a drawstring, but I don't have the patience to do that the correct way, so I used a piece of dark brown leather for the drawstring.  I also cut the felt flower shape out of wool felt along with the leaves.  In order to keep the zig zag effect, I cut the leaves with a pinking shear, along with the center of the flower.  I didn't like the flower edges pinked so I left those rounded.  Then I used an applique stitch all around the edges.

I love it!  Just my style!
